In this paper, a linearized three-level difference scheme is derived for the mixed boundary value problem of Kuramoto-Tsuzuki equation, which can be solved by double-sweep method. It is proved that the scheme is uniquely solvable and second order convergent in energy norm.

In the paper we are concerned with double $S$-breaking cubic turning points of two-parameter nonlinear problems in the presence of ${\cal Z}_2$-symmetry. Three extended systems are proposed to determine double $S$-breaking cubic turning points. We show that there exist two kinds of singular point path passing through double $S$-breaking cubic turning point. One is the simple quadratic turning point path, the other is the pitchfork bifurcation point path.

Utilizing the properties of the smallest singular value of a matrix, we propose a new, efficient and reliable algorithm for solving nonsymmetric matrix inverse eigenvalue problems, and compare it with a known method. We also present numerical experiments which illustrate our results.

In this paper, we construct the orthogonal wavelet basis in the space of antiperiodic functions by appealing the spline methods. Differing from other results in papers$^{[1,2,3,6,8]}$, here we derive the 3-scale equation, by using this equation we construct some basic functions, those functions can be used to construct different orthonormal basis in some spline function spaces.

We consider, in this paper, the trace averaging domain decomposition method for the second order self-adjoint elliptic problems discretized by a class of nonconforming finite elements, which is only continuous at the nodes of the quasi-uniform mesh. We show its geometric convergence and present the dependence of the convergence factor on the relaxation factor, the subdomain diameter $H$ and the mesh parameter $h$. In essence, this method is equivalent to the simple iterative method for the preconditioned capacitance equation. The preconditioner implied in this iteration is easily invertible and can be applied to preconditioning the capacitance matrix with the condition number no more than $O\bigl ( (1+\ln {H\over h}) max(1+H^{-2}, 1+\ln {H\over h}) \bigr )$.

Recently, we have proposed an iterative projection and contraction (PC) method for a class of linear complementarity problems (LCP)$^{[4]}$. The method was showed to be globally convergent, but no statement could be made about the rate of convergence. In this paper, we develop a modified globally linearly convergent PC method for linear complementarity problems. Both the method and the convergence proofs are very simple. The method can also be used to solve some linear variational inequalities. Several computational experiments are presented to indicate that the method is surprising good for solving some known difficult problems.

In this paper, an explicit expression of the blossom by the means of the B-form of B-B polynomial defined on a simplex is given. With its help, new but very short and simple blossom proofs of the most important theorems on B-B polynomials are derived, such as the degree elevation formula, the subdivision and the change of the underlying simplex procedure, the control points convergence property, the Marsden's identity.

In this series of three papers we study singularly perturbed (SP) boundary value problems for equations of elliptic and parabolic type. For small values of the perturbation parameter parabolic boundary and interior layers appear in these problems. If classical discretisation methods are used, the solution of the finite difference scheme and the approximation of the diffusive flux do not converge uniformly with respect to this parameter. Using the method of special, adapted grids, we can construct difference schemes that allow approximation of the solution and the normalised diffusive flux uniformly with respect to the small parameter.
We also consider singularly perturbed boundary value problems for convection-diffusion equations. Also for these problems we construct special finite difference schemes, the solution of which converges $ε$-uniformly. We study what problems appear, when classical schemes are used for the approximation of the spatial derivatives. We compare the results with those obtained by the adapted approach. Results of numerical experiments are discussed.
In the three papers we first give an introduction on the general problem, and then we consider respectively (i) Problems for SP parabolic equations, for which the solution and the normalised diffusive fluxes are required; (ii) Problems for SP elliptic equations with boundary conditions of Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin type; (iii) Problems for SP parabolic equation with discontinuous boundary conditions.
